tomorrow......

Once upon a midday tea
a conversation broke loose
and grew out of hand, and into our laps.
The flowing blue sky
poured down on our pink, table umbrella;
so comfortable in these crush velvet suits
we cried tears of diamonds
which left our eyes bloodshot.
We were sharing memories that have yet to happen
when an infidel with a top hat and a yellow bowtie
slowly approached, whistling gypsy hymns.
He handed us the old testament
scrawled on hundreds of walnut shells,
in a large canvas bag.
He had olive skin and was blushing with amusement.
He looked like Buddha
and laughed as he offered us peace
for a mere, one thousand pints of wine.
We walked away smiling
underneath the brilliant emerald sun,
along a ruby river.
Such a happy day it was;
we didn’t even need our rain boots.
